Birds of Ireland cards by Róisín Mallon Art – Corncrake
From Róisín Mallon Art comes a series of cards ‘Birds of Ireland’ in an artful collaboration with Irish writer Brian Devine. Featuring Róisín’s artwork on the front and a unique verse by Brian on the back.
Brian Devine – Corn crake: Like the pheasant – a very different bird – the corn crake nests in June but chooses the long grass in a meadow’s centre. See the Pogues’ “Lullaby of London,” As I Walked Down by the Riverside. The corn crake was known in County Meath as the “meadow hen” (cearc cluana) which makes the term cognate with the water hen (cearc uisce). The Callows: calaí were once jetties serving boats on the Shannon in Co. Offaly.
Crafted with care on premium 350gsm card, these cards measure 14 x 14cm, providing ample space inside for you to write any message you want. Made in Northern Ireland.
