'Kite Surfing at Ballyholme Bay' by Snazzeroo
The 1.3km sandy beach in Ballyholme Bay was a famous tourist destination for most of the 20th Century. Today it is more enjoyed by the locals and is a perfect destination for all kinds of water sports including sailing, wind and kite surfing.
This contemporary illustration of the bay uses the number of sea groynes crossing Ballyholme Beach, simplifying it but making it instantly recognisable. On a windy day, the skyline will be filled with the sails of the colourful water sports.
Measures 30cm wide by 40cm high. Materials: digital, print, pearl, 250gsm.
Darren from Snazzeroo says: "My challenge is to distil the elements of the location in shape and colour while retaining the essence of the place."
